Be a part of history on November 6th as thousands in cities across America join in to bring awareness to cancer. The funds raised from these events will be used to fund canine cancer and comparative oncology research, particularly focusing on the causal relationship between infections, immune response, and cancer. Research has shown us that dogs and humans get the same types of cancers. If we study already existing cancers in our canine companions, we can help develop not only better treatments for them, but also better treatments for humans as well. Because these studies will also help reduce the cost of treatment for the animals involved, more people will be able to afford to have their companions treated for this deadly disease. Be a part of this historical event. Puppy Up! against cancer and help us make these events successful by sponsoring the walk at Miami Whitewater Forest. 2 Million Dogs 2 Miles, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization which relies on the generosity of individuals and corporations to help in its mission to eradicate cancer through investing in comparative oncology studies. Luke Robinson, a native son of Texas lost his Great Pyrenees to cancer. Luke and his other two Great Pyrenees took a walk – a 2000 mile walk from Austin TX to Boston MA to bring awareness to canine cancer. He learned during his travels that canines and people get the same type of cancer so his focus went to comparative oncology. Comparative oncology focuses on the common links between canine and human cancers. After arriving safely to Boston in June of 2010 Luke felt if 2 dogs could walk 2000 miles to bring awareness then surely 2 million dogs could walk 2 miles to do the same thing. Luke founded the non profit organization '2 Million Dogs' so that we could continue to raise funds and bring awareness. Belton, Luke's hometown, will be hosting the very first Puppy Up! Walk to honor all those touched by cancer.
